The Colorado Avalanche have recalled goaltender Ivan Prosvetov from the Colorado Eagles of the AHL. In a corresponding move, goaltender Arvid Holm has been reassigned to the Eagles.

Prosvetov, 25, began the year with the Avalanche after being claimed off waivers from the Arizona Coyotes. The Russian netminder saw action in 11 games, compiling four wins with a 3.16 goals-against average and 0.895 save percentage.

Prosvetov was sent down to the AHL for regular starts following the All-Star break. He earned wins in his first eight starts, allowing a combined 10 goals and collecting two shutouts during that stretch.

The recall comes at an interesting time. Given Alexandar Georgiev‘s lackluster performance in Game 1 against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, combined with Justus Annunen‘s lingering illness, there is the very real possibility that Prosvetov starts Game 2 on Tuesday evening.

Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar, like every other NHL coach at this time of the year, has kept things close to the vest, so the starting goaltender may not be known until after morning skate or right up until puck drop.

Prosvetov was roughed up in his only career appearance against the Jets on December 16. He allowed five goals on 24 shots (0.792 save percentage).

We will know more information ahead of Tuesday’s 7:30 p.m. MDT puck drop.
